Twenty-one injured in traffic accidents across Mosul in 24 hours, police say

MOSUL, Iraq — A Nineveh police directorate security source said 21 people were injured in separate traffic accidents across central Mosul and its districts over the past 24 hours. The crashes involved vehicle collisions, pedestrians being struck and motorcycle accidents, with the wounded taken to nearby hospitals according to geographic distribution. Police said roughly half of the injuries stemmed from motorcycle accidents. Authorities urged drivers to obey traffic laws and avoid high speeds, calling for greater caution on the roads. In a separate incident, river police patrols recovered the body of a 27-year-old man who drowned while swimming in the Tigris River north of Mosul. The body was handed over to the forensic medicine unit for an autopsy, and security forces opened an investigation into the circumstances of the death.
