WASHINGTON, D.C. โ€” U.S. President Donald Trump said several people have been taken into custody in connection with vandalism at the Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C. In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said the U.S. Park Police had apprehended individuals who sabotaged the pool, one of the country's national symbols. Trump said the suspects face serious charges, including damage to national monuments, and could spend years in prison. He added that repairs to the pool would begin immediately. Earlier, Trump accused the individuals of attempting to damage the historic pool with chemicals. The pool, located between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial, had recently been undergoing restoration work to turn its water blue. Shortly after the repairs, the water was reported to have turned green. The site is also known as the location where Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech. No further details on the arrests were immediately available.
