LONDON โ The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said armed individuals attacked a cargo ship off the coast of Yemen in the Red Sea. The incident occurred roughly 30 nautical miles southwest of the port city of Hodeidah, according to the agency.
The name of the vessel has not been disclosed. UKMTO said it has launched an investigation into the incident and issued an advisory urging vessels transiting the area to exercise caution.
The organization also published an information note on maritime traffic in the Red Sea following the attack. The Houthis have previously said they targeted vessels in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden in response to Israel's military operations in Gaza since late 2023, though no group has claimed responsibility for the latest incident.
