Sweden opened the group stage of the 2026 World Cup with a 5-1 victory over Tunisia in Monterrey, Mexico. Yasin El-Ayari scored in the 7th and 90+ minutes, with Alexander Isak (30th), Viktor Gyรถkeres (59th) and Mattias Svanberg (84th) also finding the net. Omar Rekik pulled one back for Tunisia in the 43rd minute, but the result lifted Sweden to the top of the group standings.
In the same group, Ivory Coast secured a 1-0 win over Ecuador at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
