Ship-tracking data showed that maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz continued normally on Friday, a day after an attack on a vessel in the waterway. According to data cited by Bloomberg, ships were transiting the strait in both directions as usual, with four empty oil tankers heading toward the Gulf and two loaded tankers exiting the strait. The Wall Street Journal reported, citing U.S. officials, that Iran's Revolutionary Guards attacked a Singapore-flagged cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), linked to the British Royal Navy, said the vessel was struck while sailing off southeastern Oman, damaging its bridge but causing no injuries or environmental damage. UKMTO advised vessels to transit the area with caution. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) announced after the incident that it had temporarily suspended the evacuation plan for seafarers stranded in the Strait of Hormuz. IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez said the decision was taken to allow security guarantees for ships covered by the evacuation plan to be reconfirmed.
