DIWANIYAH, Iraq โ€” Construction is continuing on a sewerage infrastructure project in the Gammas district of Iraq's Diwaniyah province, the provincial Environment Department said in a written statement. The department's director general, Imad Tawfiq al-Mirza, is directly overseeing the work being carried out by engineering and technical teams. Under the project, 120 kilometers of stormwater and wastewater lines will be laid, five joint pumping stations will be installed, and a central treatment unit with a daily capacity of 15,000 cubic meters will be built, according to the statement. The department said the project is intended to strengthen the district's infrastructure, improve environmental and service conditions, and reduce the impact of pollution. It added that the work is being pushed forward in line with the set technical specifications and schedule, with the aim of delivering better services to residents of Gammas.
