Senior Militia Commander Killed in Targeted IED Attack in Maysan Province

A senior commander of the Ansarallah al-Awfiya brigade was killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in Maysan province. The explosive device was planted inside the commander's vehicle, resulting in his immediate death at the scene. The commander’s security detail sustained critical injuries during the blast and has been transported to a local hospital for emergency treatment. Security officials confirmed the incident occurred as the vehicle was targeted by the hidden explosive. The Ansarallah al-Awfiya brigade operates as a faction within the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF). The group gained prominence for its active participation in military operations against the Islamic State (IS) across Iraq.
