Security forces arrest 'dangerous' militant in Tuz Khurmatu operation

TUZ KHURMATU, Iraq — Security forces arrested a militant described as "dangerous" and wanted in terrorism-linked cases during a joint operation with Kurdistan Region security forces in the Tuz Khurmatu district of Saladin province, local security sources said. According to the sources, intelligence surveillance and monitoring of the suspect's movements preceded the arrest. No casualties or injuries were reported during the operation, and the detainee was handed over to the relevant authorities for legal and investigative proceedings. The sources did not disclose the suspect's identity or affiliation. They added that security units are continuing preventive operations against militant members and dormant cells in and around Tuz Khurmatu, a district that sits among the disputed areas between Baghdad and Kirkuk and remains a focal point for security operations in northern Iraq.
