Four-year-old found dead in father's car in Diyala's Khales district

DIYALA, Iraq — A four-year-old child died of suffocation after spending hours locked inside his father's car in the Khales district of northwestern Diyala, a source with the Diyala police directorate said on Saturday. The source told local media that the boy remained in the vehicle without his family's knowledge for several hours. He was found dead inside the car only after the family began searching for him, according to the same account. The father is reported to have four children. Khales is a small district located northwest of the provincial capital Baqubah. Police said the necessary legal and security procedures have been initiated in connection with the incident.
