Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 43. In a video posted on his social media accounts, Gordon said: "I never wanted this journey to end, but every beginning has an end. I lived my dreams and I am extremely grateful for what I experienced." Gordon, whose career spanned more than two decades, made 84 appearances for the Scotland national team. He played 682 matches at club level, representing Heart of Midlothian, Cowdenbeath, Celtic and Sunderland. At the 2026 World Cup, Gordon became the oldest player in tournament history to feature in a Scotland squad, though he did not see game time after the coaching staff opted for younger goalkeeper Angus Gunn.
