Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni has drawn attention for staying unusually composed while his team scored goals at the 2026 World Cup, including in the 2-1 semifinal victory over England. Speaking to Argentine outlet TyC Sports, Scaloni said he felt great happiness inside but that people experience such moments differently. He added that he sometimes pauses during matches and thinks to himself that what he is seeing cannot really be happening, and that his emotions vary depending on the nature of the game.
Scaloni pointed to the Bolivia match as a contrast, recalling that he ran the length of the pitch to celebrate with Lautaro Martรญnez. Argentina will face Spain in the World Cup final on July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium in New York.
Scaloni is aiming to lead Argentina to a second consecutive World Cup title and the fourth in the country's history.
