Muqtada al-Sadr has given Saraya al-Salam one week to complete its separation process, with the move expected to be finished by Ghadir Bayramı. The decision, reported from Najaf, is intended to advance the integration of the group’s civil wing into state institutions and reinforce the principle of keeping weapons under state control.
The document says Sadr instructed the director of his private office and several senior officials, including military advisers, to ensure the armed wing is fully separated from the Shia National Security Adviser and that the integration procedures with state institutions are completed.
The transition is expected to be finalized by Ghadir Bayramı, while the civil wing is to be integrated with the state under the Bonyan al-Merduş structure.
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani welcomed the move, according to the account, saying it would strengthen the principle of state monopoly over weapons.
