A committee appointed by National Shiite Movement leader Muqtada al-Sadr has launched the formal process to disengage the Saraya al-Salam armed wing from the movement. The initiative follows Sadr’s directive requiring the complete separation of these forces within a one-week timeframe.
The committee held an inaugural meeting in Najaf to coordinate the organizational steps necessary for the withdrawal. Attendees included Special Office Director Hayder al-Jabiri, Military Advisor Abu Daa al-Issawi, Jihad Deputy Tihsin al-Hamidi, and al-Bunyane al-Marsus supervisor Mohammed al-Abudi.
Members of the committee are currently working to finalize the administrative and operational procedures mandated by the leadership. The process is intended to ensure the full detachment of the armed elements from the movement's structure.
This move aligns with Sadr’s recent public statement calling for the immediate and total separation of the armed forces. The committee is tasked with completing all required actions within the seven-day deadline set by the movement's leadership.
