MOSCOW โ Russian air defense systems shot down 14 drones heading toward the capital between 2:02 p.m. and 7:01 p.m. Moscow time, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said in a series of posts on the messaging platform Max.
Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov said a Ukrainian drone strike earlier in the day killed five people and wounded six in Chekhov, a city southwest of the capital, and in an industrial area nearby. Vorobyov said a power transformer station and an administrative building were damaged, and that debris from one downed drone struck a house and a car in the village of Solnyshchevo.
The mayor's office did not immediately provide further details on the overnight interceptions. No further information was immediately available on the broader scope of the attack or possible additional casualties.
