Russia Says It Shot Down 158 Ukrainian Drones in 12 Hours

MOSCOW — Russia’s Defense Ministry said 158 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles belonging to Ukraine were shot down within 12 hours on Tuesday, in an operation that it said covered several Russian regions and Crimea. According to the ministry, the drones were intercepted between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Tuesday. It said the areas targeted included Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, Kursk, Oryol, Smolensk and Tula, as well as Crimea. The ministry said the air defense systems detected and destroyed the drones during the operation. It said the attack extended across Russia’s border regions, areas in the country’s center and the airspace over Crimea. Moscow said Ukrainian drones have been used extensively against Russian regions. No further details were immediately provided.
