WASHINGTON, United States — WASHINGTON — US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said technical teams from the United States and Iran will meet again at the start of next week to continue negotiations on a possible agreement. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Rubio said the teams would resume work on June 29 or 30, and that the talks are expected to take place in Switzerland.
Rubio said he will not take part in the negotiations personally. Technical-level officials from the State Department and the Department of Energy will represent the United States, he added.
Rubio noted that the delegations had previously split according to the issues they were handling. The United States and Iran reached an agreement last week to halt the fighting, and talks between the two sides have continued as they work to shape a final deal on outstanding issues related to Iran's nuclear program and US sanctions on Tehran.
No further details on the agenda or the composition of the Iranian delegation were immediately available.
