Israeli intelligence foiled alleged Iran-linked plot against Netanyahu's son, report says

Israeli intelligence uncovered an alleged Iranian-linked plot to assassinate Yair Netanyahu, son of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and ordered him to leave Florida urgently in December 2025, according to a report. The Newsmax report, citing U.S. law enforcement sources, said Israeli intelligence detected activity in Miami attributed to Iranian elements and launched an investigation. Suspecting that Iranian operatives in Miami were tracking Yair Netanyahu's movements and residence, Israeli authorities instructed him to leave Florida immediately. He later returned to Israel. Netanyahu has previously said Iran "tried to kill one of my sons," without specifying whether he meant Yair or his other son, Avner. In July, an Israeli cabinet committee on Shin Bet affairs had approved a five-year extension of security protections for both of the prime minister's sons. The reported plot comes amid separate allegations of Iranian threats against the families of Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump.
