Qatar condemns Iranian attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain, urges de-escalation

DOHA, Qatar — Qatar's Foreign Ministry condemned Iranian strikes on Kuwait and Bahrain and called for an end to escalation, warning that continued attacks on Iran were complicating efforts to contain tensions and undermining diplomatic initiatives. The ministry said any steps that could widen the conflict should be avoided and that dialogue and negotiation should be pursued. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps announced earlier in the day that it had targeted U.S. bases in Bahrain and Kuwait. Kuwait's military said its air defenses engaged Iranian missiles and drones and that sirens sounded across the country. Bahrain's Interior Ministry also confirmed that sirens were activated following the Iranian attack. U.S. Central Command said operations against Iran had entered their ninth night, with strikes carried out on military facilities as well as naval and missile-related sites.
