Qatar Condemns Attacks in Erbil as Violation of Iraqi Sovereignty

DOHA, Qatar — Qatar condemned attacks on the office of Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and the residence of the head of the Parastin security intelligence organisation in Erbil. The Foreign Ministry described the attacks as a clear violation of the sovereignty of the Republic of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. The ministry said the attacks also breached international law. It rejected actions targeting Iraq’s and the Kurdistan Region’s security and stability, and said the region should be protected from the consequences of such attacks. Qatar called for continued dialogue and diplomacy to reduce tensions and strengthen security and stability regionally and internationally. It reiterated its full solidarity with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and support for steps to protect the sovereignty and security of both.
