Police investigate suspicious death of young man in Kirkuk; arrest two in Tuz Khurmatu killing

KIRKUK, Iraq — Police in Kirkuk have launched an investigation after the body of a 20-year-old man was found in the Domez area on Friday. A source at the forensic medicine unit of Azadi Hospital said an initial examination found marks on parts of the body consistent with suicide indicators. Kirkuk police said the Domez police station, a crime-fighting unit and forensic teams went to the scene and carried out a technical examination. Investigators collected evidence and recorded witness statements, with results to be announced after official procedures are completed. In a separate case, Saladin provincial police said two people have been arrested in connection with the killing of a man in the Tuz Khurmatu district. In a joint operation with Kirkuk police, the victim's son and wife were detained in Kirkuk and referred to the relevant authorities to complete legal proceedings.
