Morocco midfielder Azzedine Onahi scored twice in a 3-0 win over Canada that sent the Atlas Lions into the quarterfinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. The 26-year-old's two goals brought his international tally to 11 in 59 appearances and marked the 100th goal scored by Arab national teams in World Cup history, according to match reports. Morocco had finished fourth at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Onahi's second goal was the milestone 100th for Arab sides at the tournament. Egypt's Abdelrahman Fawzi scored the first Arab World Cup goal at the 1934 edition in Italy, while Algeria's Abdelmoumene Djabou netted the 50th during a 2-1 last-16 loss to Germany at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. A late strike by Sofyan Rahimi lifted the overall tally for Arab national teams at the World Cup to 102. Morocco now advance to the quarterfinal round as the only Arab side remaining in the competition.
