MUSCAT, Oman โ Oman's Foreign Ministry summoned Iran's ambassador on Sunday and handed over a formal protest note over drone strikes targeting several locations in the sultanate. The ministry said the actions attributed to Iran were irresponsible and conveyed Oman's displeasure at the strikes, adding that all states must respect sovereignty and abide by principles of good neighborly relations.
The summons came hours after Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it had destroyed what it described as logistics centers used by the United States for ship support operations at the port of Duqm. In a joint statement, the IRGC and Iran's regular Army said they carried out ballistic missile and drone strikes on Sunday against U.S. interests and bases in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan and Oman.
No immediate details were given on casualties or damage from the reported strikes inside Oman. The protests by Muscat point to the diplomatic fallout for Tehran after it widened its retaliation across multiple Gulf states.
The Omani statement did not specify further measures, and Iranian authorities had not immediately responded publicly to the summons.
