Najaf Authorities Close Restaurant Following Mass Food Poisoning Incident

Ten individuals were hospitalized in Najaf after suffering from food poisoning linked to a local restaurant. The victims consumed mandi, a traditional rice and meat dish, before requiring urgent medical intervention. Mahir Yasser al-Abudi, media director for the Najaf Health Directorate, confirmed that four patients, including two children, are receiving treatment at Sadr Hospital. An additional six individuals are currently under medical care at Zahra Hospital. Health officials have collected medical samples from the patients and food specimens from the establishment for laboratory analysis. Authorities stated that if the test results confirm a link between the food and the illnesses, the restaurant will be permanently shuttered and legal proceedings initiated against the owner. Security forces have secured the premises and are currently interrogating the restaurant's management. While initial local reports suggested as many as 19 people were affected, health officials have officially confirmed the hospitalization of 10 individuals.
