Mosul authorities dismantle illegally paved street in citywide encroachment operation

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Mosul's district administration carried out a large-scale field operation targeting illegal construction on public land in the city's Naher neighborhood, removing a street that had been laid without authorization on state-owned property. The operation was conducted in coordination with the district's violations commission, the Mosul Municipality and the Nineveh Police Directorate, according to District Governor Hisham al-Hashimi. Al-Hashimi said the individuals responsible had paved the street in an attempt to give the area an appearance of legality, and to illegally subdivide and sell surrounding plots.
