Missan Petroleum, Zakho Advance to Basketball Semi-Finals

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Missan Petroleum advanced to the semi-finals of Iraq's Elite Basketball League after defeating Nineveh Workers 102-63 at the Armenian Club arena near the Iraqi Parliament in Baghdad on Thursday. Zakho also secured a semi-final berth with a 75-42 win over Hillah in the same quarter-final round. The Iraqi national team has begun a training camp in Baghdad ahead of the West Asia Basketball Championship. Technical staff announced an 18-player squad for the tournament, including Hussein Ali Ziyab, Hussein Riaz Kazem, Ali al-Sujad Hussein Mousa, Ahmed Kamal Abdurrazzaq, Ali Hasan Mohammed, Hamza Bassam Monem, and Laith Osama Nasir. The roster also includes Yousef Amir Abbas, Mohammed Ali Raad, Moeeb Wahran Habib, Abdelkahar Hamad Monir, Ali Abdul-Emir Miz'al, Omar Hassan Ekrem, Ghais Yasser Ganem, Hanu Ferhat Karim, Abdi Biar Mejed, Yazar Gia Abdurrahman, and Sidad Ibrahim Shallal.
