Kevin Keegan, Liverpool legend and two-time Ballon d'Or winner, dies at 75

Kevin Keegan, one of English football's most celebrated players and a former star of Liverpool, has died at the age of 75. His family announced that he passed away on Wednesday surrounded by close relatives, after revealing in January that he had been diagnosed with stage four stomach cancer and hospitalized. They said he had appeared stable last month before his condition worsened. Liverpool Football Club expressed deep sorrow over the loss, saying in a statement on social media that Keegan's legacy would endure in the club's history. Keegan began his career at Scunthorpe United in the late 1960s before joining Liverpool in 1971, where he won three English league titles, a European Cup, a UEFA Cup and two FA Cups. After moving to Hamburg in 1977, Keegan won back-to-back Ballon d'Or awards in 1978 and 1979 and added a Bundesliga title. He returned to England with Southampton in 1980, later played for Newcastle United and ended his playing career at Blacktown in 1984. Capped 63 times by England, with 21 goals, he later managed Newcastle, Fulham, Manchester City and the England national team.
