BAGHDAD, Iraq โ A force affiliated with Iraq's Commission on Integrity surrounded the Salahuddin provincial government building in Tikrit on Tuesday to execute arrest warrants against 55 public employees wanted on corruption charges, according to a security source. The operation was carried out in line with judicial warrants, the source said, without providing further details.
Heavy security measures were deployed around the provincial council building during the operation, the source added. The Salahaddin Provincial Council has not publicly commented on the raid.
The operation comes weeks after a separate large-scale detention campaign across Iraq on June 28, 2026, which targeted politicians, government officials, members of parliament and business figures on allegations of corruption and abuse of influence. No further details on the Salahaddin operation were immediately available.
