Kuwait calls Iranian attacks 'hostile,' reserves right to defend sovereignty

KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait — KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait's Foreign Ministry said it reserves the right to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, security and citizens in response to continuing Iranian attacks, according to a ministry statement. The ministry described the attacks as a "serious escalation" reflecting a "systematic hostile posture" that cannot be justified or accepted. The statement said Kuwait rejects any action that touches its security or sovereignty and will take steps it deems appropriate to safeguard national interests and maintain stability. It added that Iran had struck several strategic and military sites with drones, which it characterized as "Iranian aggression." Kuwait said the strikes amount to a violation of its sovereignty and a threat to its security, and also breach the United Nations Charter and UN Security Council Resolution 2817. The ministry did not specify what measures it planned to take.
