Kurdistan Region president meets head of Iraq's federal anti-corruption body

ERBIL, Iraq — Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani met in Erbil with Mohammed Ali Miften, head of Iraq's Federal Integrity Commission, and his accompanying delegation. Ahmed Anwar, head of the Kurdistan Region's Commission of Integrity, also attended the meeting. According to a statement from the Kurdistan Region Presidency, the talks focused on strengthening cooperation and coordination between the federal anti-corruption body and relevant institutions in the Kurdistan Region. Both sides stressed the importance of the independence of integrity commissions and the role of such bodies in upholding the rule of law. Barzani said the Kurdistan Region was ready to cooperate fully with the Federal Integrity Commission and all judicial authorities to safeguard the law. Miften thanked the relevant institutions in the Kurdistan Region for what he described as continuous and productive cooperation with the commission and federal authorities.
