ERBIL, Iraq โ Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani has called for strengthening the region's air defense capacity in response to a rise in drone attacks. In a statement, Barzani said Kurdish institutions need a more effective defense structure to counter the threat from unmanned aerial vehicles.
The prime minister directed relevant security and military units to work in coordination to reinforce air defense systems, stressing that the protection of civilian infrastructure and public facilities remains a priority. His remarks come amid a recent increase in drone strikes targeting areas of the Kurdistan Region.
Barzani also said cooperation with international partners in this field should be deepened. The Kurdistan Regional Government said a comprehensive defense plan against drone attacks would be put into effect, without providing further details on its scope or timeline.
