Kurdistan Region PM Barzani meets Iranian parliament speaker in Tehran

TEHRAN, Iran — TEHRAN — Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani met with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf in Tehran, the Kurdistan Region Presidency said. The two sides discussed expanding bilateral relations between Iraq, the Kurdistan Region and Iran and broadening joint cooperation and coordination. Both sides agreed to support historical and friendly ties across all fields, according to the statement. They also stressed the importance of maintaining regional security and stability and resolving disputes through dialogue and peaceful means. The meeting also covered the latest status of negotiations between the United States and Iran, with both sides expressing best wishes for the diplomatic efforts. Barzani traveled to Tehran at the official invitation of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. The visit is being held to attend the funeral procession of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a joint airstrike by the United States and Israel.
