Kurdistan Region forecasts thunderstorms, temperature drop through Wednesday

ERBIL, Iraq — The Kurdistan Region's Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring Directorate forecast partly cloudy weather across the region on Tuesday, with brief thunderstorms expected in mountainous parts of Sulaymaniyah province and the independent Soran administration area. Winds will be light to moderate at 10–20 km/h, occasionally exceeding 30 km/h, with variable direction. Forecast high temperatures were 43°C in Erbil, 39°C in Sulaymaniyah, 41°C in Duhok, 40°C in Halabja, 46°C in Kermian, 42°C in Zakho, 41°C in Akre and Chamchamal, 37°C in Permam and 32°C at Haji Omran. On Wednesday, conditions are expected to turn partly to mostly cloudy, with short-lived rain continuing across the region's mountainous areas. Temperatures are forecast to drop 2–3 degrees compared with Tuesday, the directorate said.
