German manager Jürgen Klopp has reached a preliminary agreement with the German Football Association (DFB) to take charge of the national team, journalist Florian Plattenhardt said in a post on X. Talks held in New York on Wednesday produced a framework deal covering Klopp's tenure through the 2030 World Cup, with only final details remaining before a contract can be signed.
Plattenhardt reported that meaningful progress was made during the New York meeting and that only minor terms are outstanding. According to the same account, Klopp is also expected to finalize his departure from the Red Bull group in New York, with the matter to be settled with the company's management by the start of next week.
Germany exited the 2026 World Cup in the round of 32, losing to Paraguay on penalties. No further details on the appointment were immediately available.
