KIRKUK, Iraq โ Kirkuk's silos have received approximately 60,000 tons of wheat within four days of the start of the marketing season, according to Hassan Hamdi, director of the silos under the Kirkuk branch of the Trade Ministry.
The grain is being delivered through four distribution points: Kirkuk, Taze, Riyadh, and Hawija. Kirkuk silos process roughly 150 vehicles per day, while the Taze, Riyadh, and Hawija centers each handle approximately 100 vehicles daily. Hamdi said technical and administrative teams are operating under an organized plan to ensure rapid intake.
Kirkuk produced 503,000 tons of wheat last season, making it one of Iraq's key production centers. The previous season yielded 537,000 tons. Hamdi said this season's target of 500,000 tons is expected to be reached.
