Kirkuk Municipality has launched comprehensive veterinary inspections at its modern slaughterhouse to ensure food safety ahead of the Eid al-Adha holiday. These clinical examinations are specifically designed to mitigate the risk of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) transmission during the festive period.
Acting under directives from the Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture, slaughterhouse officials are mandating official seals on all processed meat before it is cleared for public sale. This regulatory measure aims to guarantee that all livestock products meet established health and safety standards.
Health authorities are urging the public to prioritize the use of protective equipment during the ritual slaughter of animals to prevent potential viral exposure. These precautions remain critical as the country continues to monitor the spread of the disease.
National health data highlights the ongoing severity of the situation, with Dhi Qar province reporting the highest incidence rate in Iraq this year. Official records indicate that the province has documented 41 cases and four fatalities since the beginning of 2024.
