KERBALA, Iraq โ The Media Monitoring Cell in Kerbala said its media plan for the 10th of Muharram Ashura pilgrimage was carried out successfully, with live coverage of the commemorations reaching 1,006 hours over a ten-day period.
According to a statement issued by the cell, the plan was implemented through coordination involving the Security Media Cell, the Media and Communications Commission, the media offices of the shrines of Imam Hussein and Imam Abbas, the provincial government's communications unit, the Kerbala Operations Command and police media units. Officials said the effort was designed to support journalists and keep media language consistent during the pilgrimage.
The cell said more than 100,000 awareness brochures were distributed, field tours for visitors were arranged and monitoring was carried out to counter misinformation and disinformation. Coverage relied on 7 live broadcast vehicles, 84 LiveU transmission devices and 676 press cameras, with 1,011 journalists, including 102 foreign reporters, accredited for the pilgrimage.
Twelve local radio stations, 82 television channels and 26 Arab and foreign news agencies participated in the broadcasts. Eighty-seven local and international channels used the Feed Clean service to deliver uninterrupted transmissions. The cell said inter-agency coordination was central to the pilgrimage's smooth media coverage.
