TEHRAN, Iran โ€” Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has denied reports that a direct communications channel with the United States has been established over the Strait of Hormuz, calling the claims unfounded. In a statement, the IRGC said no such channel exists and that the reports do not reflect accurate information. The statement emphasized that security and military posture around the strait is managed in line with Iran's national interests. It added that Tehran's own procedures govern maritime activity and traffic control in the waterway, and that there is no official basis for reports of a communications link with the US on the matter. The Strait of Hormuz is a strategic waterway through which a significant portion of global oil trade passes. The denial follows recent media speculation about back-channel contacts between Iranian and US military officials aimed at preventing escalation in the Gulf.
