BEER SHEVA, Israel โ An Israeli police officer was arrested Thursday on suspicion of raping his ex-partner, according to the Maahash unit that investigates complaints against police officers.
The woman, also a police officer, told investigators the assault occurred Sunday when the suspect visited her home during his shift. She alleged he threatened her, locked her inside the apartment, and sexually assaulted her.
A Beer Sheva magistrate court authorized extending the officer's detention through Friday. His defense attorney denied the allegations, claiming the accuser was a former partner who had become obsessed with the defendant.
The defense lawyer said the woman could not recall how many times she called before going to the apartment.
