Israel shares intelligence with US on reported Iran plot to kill Trump

JERUSALEM — Israeli authorities have passed intelligence to the US administration alleging that Iran is preparing a new plot to assassinate President Donald Trump, the Wall Street Journal reported. The newspaper, citing people familiar with the information, said it remained unclear through which channel and on what date the intelligence was shared between the two allies. According to the report, calls in Iran for an attack on Trump surfaced at the funeral of then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed in US-Israeli strikes in late February. The assassination campaign referenced in the intelligence was said to have been discussed in the context of that gathering, the paper reported, citing sources familiar with the matter. Trump has previously faced multiple suspected attacks and assassination attempts. He was shot in the ear at a rally in Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024, and the Secret Service disrupted another attempt at his Florida golf course on September 15, 2024. On April 25, the agency foiled an armed assault on the White House Correspondents' Association dinner by arresting a suspect before he could act.
