Israel Says It Targeted Hamas Military Wing Chief in Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Yisrael Katz said Hamas’ new military wing leader, Muhammed Avde, was targeted in the Gaza Strip. They identified him as Hamas intelligence chief during the 7 October assault and said he had been appointed about a week ago to replace Izzeddin Haddad, who was killed. The statement accused Avde of being responsible for the killing, abduction and wounding of many Israelis and members of the Israeli army.
