Iraq’s Anti-Corruption Commission Launches Audit of Government Contracts

The Iraqi Commission of Integrity has established specialized audit teams in Baghdad to conduct comprehensive reviews of government contracts. These units will evaluate major agreements previously signed by ministries and state institutions to ensure full legal compliance. Auditors are tasked with verifying that all contracts align with the public interest and identifying any officials responsible for the mismanagement of state resources. The commission will conduct these investigations in coordination with relevant government agencies. Findings from the audits will be formally submitted to the judiciary for further legal action. This initiative was launched at the request of Prime Minister Ali Zidi to strengthen regulatory oversight. The primary objective of the audit process is to ensure that all government procurement adheres to established legislation and to safeguard public assets from corruption.
