Iraq’s Anti-Corruption Commission Intensifies Oversight of Public Contracts

The Iraqi Federal Commission of Integrity has launched an intensified audit and investigation campaign across Baghdad and all provinces, acting under the directives of Prime Minister Ali Falih Zidi. This initiative aims to fulfill the commission's mandate under the 2011 Anti-Corruption Law by strengthening oversight of government operations. Specialized teams have been established to conduct comprehensive reviews of critical public contracts signed by ministries and state institutions. These audits are designed to ensure full regulatory compliance and protect the public interest against financial mismanagement. The commission intends to identify any parties involved in the misappropriation of public funds or the securing of illicit gains through state agreements. Findings from these investigations will be formally submitted to the competent judicial authorities for legal action. To facilitate the process, the commission is coordinating its investigative efforts directly with relevant public institutions. This collaborative approach is intended to streamline the identification of irregularities and ensure the integrity of the state procurement process.
