BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraqi sprinter Falah Hassan won the silver medal in the men's 100 metres at the Asian U23 Championships in Ordos, China, finishing in 10.21 seconds, the Iraqi Athletics Federation's media coordinator Meysam Al-Hasani said. The time broke the Iraqi national record in the event.
Hassan finished behind Malaysia's Muhammad Azeem, who won gold in 10.17 seconds, and ahead of Qatar's Salah Nour, who took bronze in 10.23 seconds.
Al-Hasani said the Iraqi delegation travelled to Ordos on four separate flights, with the journey beginning on Monday and lasting two days. Despite the fatigue from travel, Hassan delivered a strong performance, securing a medal and a new national record at the start of Iraq's participation in the Asian championships, the coordinator added.
