Iraqi security service says it dismantled an illegal drone production site in Baghdad

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's National Intelligence and Security Service (INSS) said it identified and shut down an unlicensed drone production facility in Baghdad, seizing 25 airframes during the operation. The agency's spokesperson announced the development at a security briefing on Thursday. According to the statement, the raid targeted illegal unmanned aerial vehicle manufacturing and resulted in security forces confiscating drone bodies that were in the production stage, halting the assembly line. The agency said early intervention was necessary because of the security risks posed by such activity. The INSS added that the seized airframes had been referred for technical examination and that an investigation was continuing. It said operations aimed at curbing illegal weapons and ammunition production would continue as part of broader enforcement efforts against unauthorized production networks in the capital.
