BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's National Security Service said it uncovered an unmanned aerial vehicle production workshop in Baghdad and detained three suspects. The agency said the operation was carried out under the supervision of a judge from the Third Investigation Court, based on arrest and search warrants issued against the suspects.
During the raid, security teams seized 25 drone airframes along with assembly and manufacturing equipment and materials. A separate workshop containing carbon fiber sheets and other technical components used in the production process was also identified, according to the statement.
The agency said the manufacturing operation was halted before any drones could be completed and that the suspects would be referred to the judiciary. It added that the investigation is continuing to determine whether the activity was connected to other plans targeting national security. No further details were immediately available.
