Iraqi Premier League clubs make early moves in summer transfer window

DUHOK, Iraq — Iraqi football clubs opened the summer transfer window with a flurry of signings and squad decisions ahead of the new season. Al-Zawraa strengthened its forward line by signing Nigerian player Adam Esian. Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya terminated Abbas Adel's contract after the coaching staff deemed him surplus to requirements, and the player is close to joining Al-Shorta following an offer from the Baghdad club. Separately, Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya is nearing a one-season loan deal for Abdullah Nasib, a defender with the Jordanian national team. At Duhok, Siyabend Aqid requested a free-transfer card after receiving an offer from another club, informing the team of his intention to leave. Free-agent striker Asher Ali signed with Iraqi Premier League side Al-Qasim. The summer transfer window for the Iraqi Stars League 2026-27 season is scheduled to close on August 31, 2026.
