WASHINGTON, United States — WASHINGTON — Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaydi told US business leaders on Friday that Iraq should no longer be viewed as a "land of missed opportunities" but as a country offering major investment potential. Speaking at the US-Iraq Business Summit in Washington, al-Zaydi called on American firms to form genuine investment partnerships with Iraq.
The prime minister said recent meetings in Houston with energy companies had been productive and that Iraq offered a wide range of investment opportunities. He stressed that the Iraqi government follows an open-door policy toward investors.
Al-Zaydi said Baghdad wants to build strategic, long-term partnerships with US companies rather than limiting cooperation to contractual commitments. His remarks came as diplomatic engagements between the two countries continue to focus on strengthening economic ties.
