BASRA, Iraq โ A local security official said the Safe City project in Basra has moved from the design stage to implementation. Akil Talib al-Faraji, head of the Basra Provincial Council's Security Committee, said the initiative is intended to strengthen security and stability and to expand smart surveillance systems.
Al-Faraji described a "Door of the Future" forum hosted by Hikvision as an important step for following the latest smart surveillance technologies. He said the company's work will be carried out under the supervision of the provincial council to ensure the project meets the required standards.
The Safe City project involves deploying advanced cameras and modern digital systems capable of real-time data analysis, according to al-Faraji. It is part of broader efforts by local authorities in Iraq to upgrade security infrastructure with smart surveillance and digital tools. No further details on the implementation timeline were immediately available.
