BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” Iraqi lawmaker Hiyam al-Yasiri has requested that parliament's Transport and Communications Committee summon officials and company representatives to examine the "Akari" electronic platform, arguing that its operations have created additional financial burdens on citizens in property sales and rentals. In a formal request submitted on Tuesday, al-Yasiri proposed calling the director general of the Land Registry under the Ministry of Justice, the head of the National Digital Transformation Center at the Prime Minister's Secretariat, the president of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, the head of the Central Bank's Anti-Money Laundering Office, and the director of the company that developed and operates the platform. The lawmaker said the committee should question those figures over fees charged to users, the legal basis and validity of electronic contracts concluded through the platform, and protections for personal data and information security. No date has been set for the committee's review of the request.
