BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Joint Operations Command said on Sunday that airstrikes destroyed two hideouts used by ISIS in western Anbar province. The command said the sites were actively in use by the group and that the operation was based on intelligence information.
The strikes were carried out in a coordinated manner and targeted logistical elements around the hideouts, according to the command, which described the operation as successful. It added that security forces would continue pursuit operations in the area and reported no civilian casualties.
Anbar, Iraq's largest province, stretches from Baghdad to the Syrian border and includes vast desert areas where ISIS fighters have repeatedly attempted to regroup.
